Water ExerciseWhen it comes to taking care of your body, most experts will agree that exercise is key. Exercise helps your body remain active and in good working condition, as well as helps to clear your mind, relieve stress, and reduces your chances of having a heart attack or stroke. You have to exercise safely, however, and one important ingredient to a good workout is water. Water and exercise should always go together.
Water is essential to your body. In fact, a large percentage of your body is made up of water, and if you lose too much, you may begin to feel tired, and may eventually pass out from dehydration. When you combine water and exercise, you will come out feeling better than you ever did before. You must drink as much water as you can to replace what you are sweating out as workout.
Another way to combine water and exercise you may not have considered is to do your workout underwater. Water aerobics are becoming more and more popular, and some are finding these are the best workouts for them. When you get into the water and exercise, you are taking a lot of stress off of your joints, and you are also adding resistance to your workout, which gives you a better workout in the end.
If you call around, you can probably find many places that use water and exercise as a workout program. Your local YMCA will most likely be a great place to find this type of workout. Your local gym may be in on the act as well, and can offer water sports and water exercise programs for people of all ages. If neither is available to you, simply jump into your own pool for a workout. You can also do this in your community pool, but it might be a little harder if the pool tends to get crowded.
Just remember that no matter where you do your workout, water and exercise are both important, and that together they will help you look and feel better. No matter what your fitness level, you will find working out in the water will be just what you need. Start small if you need to, and add time as you go. Not only will this exercise be fun, it will be welcome on a hot summer day. In the winter, an indoor heated pool will work great, and will also do wonders for chasing away the winter blues.
